I think about Harry Styles a lot. More specifically I think about masculinity and how he’s become one of the main players credited for making it possible to share blouses and platform disco boots with your boyfriend without it being a big deal. I love how Styles has changed this and I love it in the case of other men in the public eye — like ASAP Rocky and Bad Bunny — who can rock babushka scarves and nail polish with aplomb. Men have been leaning into gender-neutral dressing for decades, but there’s something about this moment that makes it feel like a new frontier is being crossed, one that sets an example to young boys that what you wear doesn’t need to have any bearing on gender or sexual identity.
